Success Stories

What I like most about Jill’s approach is she knows, first hand, the challenges that we face in Ironman triathlons and relates her own experiences to help us. Her approach is very supportive and proactive.

Because of working with Jill I approached the swim on race day with a new focus, concentration and calmness. I was able to maintain this mindset throughout my swim, despite conditions that would likely have caused much anxiety for me had I not maintained this focus.

My approach changed from being reactive to proactive. Previously, I would enter the swim with high energy and anxiety levels and try to fight back my anxiety by trying to “tough it out”. Jill helped me take a much more proactive approach by changing my mindset and focus before getting in the water. She also helped me a great deal by teaching me to not attach to negative, anxious thoughts about the swim. Instead, I would acknowledge that those thoughts are there, but learned to automatically counter those negative thoughts with positive thoughts. Jill told me about the Parable of the Two Wolves, which really struck a chord with me. It’s helped me in and out of the water, both during my Ironman race as well as in my personal life – and this was after working with Jill for just 3 sessions.

Jill,

I can’t thank you enough for the time and effort you put towards me becoming a two-time Ironman.
As we discussed early on, there was a part of me that didn’t feel comfortable about what I had achieved in finishing my first Ironman in 2014. From the minute we first talked, I knew this time was going to be different – Better.

It’s probably fair to say that “many” coaches can write a training program. But what they CANNOT do, is put all the pieces together like you did. You combined the physical, mental and nutritional elements in to the perfect training program for me.

Our one on one sessions focusing on the mental preparation and motivation were truly the part the made the difference in my 2016 experience at IM Wisconsin. I’ve never felt so prepared, so relaxed and so excited for an event in my life. I have completed dozens of short course triathlons, a 70.3 Ironman and an Ironman. In every one of those cases, I was filled with anxiety and nervousness at the starting line. Sunday, September 11, 2016 was the exact opposite. Not only was I confident that I put in the work to be there, but you and I had set out a very specific race day plan. The plan included mantras for each discipline of the race, but even more detailed motivational thoughts for each segment of each discipline. When I got to the Barlow Hill on my bike I knew exactly how I was going to respond. When I got to mile 20 on the run, I knew exactly what was going to push me the rest of the way to my PR.

Lastly, I want to thank you for exposing me to your tools for Ironman training. I will use those in all other aspects of my life moving forward. You put into action the saying, “give a man a fish and he eats for the day, teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime.”

All the best to you and should the urge to compete again surface, you can expect a call.
